Who we are

Hans took on summer work with Scott while in university and joined the team immediately after graduation. He is passionate about building and is proud of the knowledge gained over the past 40 years here at Scott Builders. This knowledge makes him uniquely positioned to help clients design and build great workplaces. As Vice-President & General Manager, he acts as a primary resource to the sales team and stays in direct contact with past and future clients on a regular basis.

Thomas is the CFO at Scott Builders. He joined as Corporate Controller in 2014 and became CFO in 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan and has been designated as a CPA, CA. Thomas’ expertise in financial strategy and risk management has helped Scott Builders navigate a rapidly evolving business environment. As CFO, he oversees all financial operations and works closely with the executive team to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the company’s goals.

Laura, our Human Resources Manager with over 20 years of experience in the HR industry, has been with SBI for the past 4 years. She is a Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) and also earned her SHRM-SCP (Senior Certified Professional ) designation in 2019. Her experience in both private and public sectors has helped our organization to navigate complex HR issues with confidence. Laura is responsible for managing all aspects of the HR function,  collaborates with senior management to align HR practices with the strategic plan, provides guidance and support to all employees, and ensures that our HR policies, procedures, and practices are aligned with our organizational goals. Her passion for creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture has been instrumental in fostering a sense of community and teamwork within our organization.

Patrick is the General Manager in Edmonton. Patrick is the type of manager who believes in empowering people and that his job is to be there whenever he is needed, helping his staff to grow, and supporting them wherever necessary. With his engineering background, Patrick utilizes his knowledge and expertise to support those around him. Being with Scott Builders for the past 15 years, Patrick has seen a lot of projects, big and small, and enjoys it every step of the way.

Michael started his construction career as a labourer. Through hard work and dedication, he was promoted through all facets of construction as his career progressed until moving into his current position as General Manager. If you’ve had the pleasure of working with Michael, you know he is a true team player. Leaning on the knowledge gained through his career he seizes every opportunity to mentor, grow, and foster community within the Scott Builders team. Michael takes great pride in his ability to help others grow within the organization.

Will is General Manager of our Red Deer Branch. If you’ve had the pleasure of working with Will, you know he brings a collaborative and respectful approach to working with our team, clients, and consultants. He continuously demonstrates Scott Builders’ core values in all interactions and has positively impacted the company since 2005. Will’s architectural background, combined with his knowledge of construction processes, makes him an asset to the team, and his passion for building shines through on every project he touches.

Graduating from NAIT in 1989 for Architectural Technology, Cliff Huber has been with Scott Builders since 1997. Working in Design, Estimating, and Project Management has given Cliff excellent experience for his Pre-Construction role. Cliff’s strengths include building relationships with new clients, serving past clients, preparing proposals, contract negotiations, and setting up successful projects for our Construction teams to proceed with.

Justin started at Scott Builders in 2011 as a Project Manager, bringing with him 8 years of experience in the construction business. Justin’s diverse experience combined with his on-site problem solving, strong organization and communication skills, and deep understanding of how projects get done results in excellent project set ups for our Construction Teams. He has a wide range of market experience and coverage responsibilities with a diverse group of clients. Justin spends most of his time on the front end of potential new projects sourcing leads, coordinating with existing clients, and organizing Pre-Construction to move projects forward fastest.

Derrick has been working in the construction industry for 20+ years focusing on Business Development, Project Management, and Pre-Construction in the Commercial, Industrial, and Recreational markets. Derrick was born into the construction industry, and it shows. His knowledge, passion, and professionalism ring through in every facet of his role as Business Development Manager. A team player, Derrick is not afraid to dive into the latest project and lend a hand where needed. He takes great pride in a job well done and works diligently to positively impact the team and set a project up for success.

Andrew stared his construction career with a local home builder at the age of 19. He later joined Scott Builders as a fourth-year carpenter. Through hard work and determination, he quickly worked his way up to become a Journeyman in 2006. Since then, Andrew has acted in roles such as Site Super, Project Manager, and now Business Development Manager. Throughout his career Andrew has constantly sought new challenges and opportunities for growth, making him a valued member of the Scott Team.

Brad has worked with us for over 20 years, building relationships firstly as a trade contractor and the last 10 years for us directly in our office on Pre-Construction. He is a Master Electrician and has terrific site experiences to bring to his work developing projects from initial client meetings to supporting our Project Teams through construction. Brad has always loved the processes involved with starting projects and Pre-Construction and thrives working through the challenges to turn them into great outcomes for our clients.

Scott recently celebrated his 10-year service award for Scott Builders! For most of his career with Scott Builders, he has been the field operations manager in the Edmonton branch. Scott brings a sense of collaboration, teamwork, and dedication to the team at Scott Builders and to every project he touches. He is an active participant in the office culture and can often be found helping other team members with anything they may need in all projects.

James has been with Scott Builders for the past 18 years, initially as a carpenter then site superintendent and has recently moved into the role of Field Operations Manager. A journeyman carpenter, his exceptional leadership is marked by excellent communication, meticulous organization, and a keen eye for detail. These qualities have earned him the respect and trust of both his crew and clients, which is reflected in the impressive list of projects he has successfully completed, many of which have led to repeat clients. James’s dedication to excellence is apparent in every project he touches as he maintains a focus on quality workmanship, efficient project delivery, and ensuring the project is set up for success from day one.

Eric has been a member of Scott’s team since joining in 2005. He began his construction career as a carpenter, his dedication and skill allowed him to quickly advance into key management roles, from Site Superintendent, Project Manager, Manager of Special Projects, and Project Manager within the Technical Services Division. In 2023, Eric advanced again into the role of Field Operations Manager. His extensive hands-on field experience, coupled with his adept project management across a diverse array of projects, makes Eric exceptionally equipped to assist clients with their planning and construction needs. His deep understanding of both the practical and administrative sides of construction ensures that he can offer comprehensive and informed guidance to ensure project success.
