Scott Builders is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Advisor to join our team. The Safety Advisor is responsible for implementing our health, safety, and environmental practices while ensuring continuous focus on employee training, orientations, and overall safe work practices. This role demands strong relationship-building skills, integrity, accountability, effective communication, and collaboration.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Safety Advisor provides consistent leadership, guidance, and mentoring, fostering a culture where safety is viewed as a resource and an asset to operations. Additionally, this position supports branch operations on health, safety, and environmental matters and coordinates the branch health and safety program for employees, contractors, and subcontractors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with branch management to ensure directives and guidance are communicated and implemented
Ensure corporate policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
Coordinate the training and orienting of new employees in order that all persons understand and are committed to company standards
Participate in safety committee meetings
Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations and guidelines
Monitor industry trends and ensure company practices are current, accurate and representative of the industry
Provide coaching and assistance to operational staff on safety processes and procedures
Develop programs that reduce incidents/accidents
Conduct and participate in internal and external safety audits, safety inspections at branch locations and work sites
Reports all incidents, near misses, and accident investigations to the general manager and conduct incident investigations
Record safety violations and make recommendations for corrections and follow up
Compile safety statistics for the branch
Prepare and provide daily, weekly, and monthly planning and activity reports
Liaises with external parties on matters concerning OH&S and/or EH&S
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Construction Management or related discipline (equivalent of education and experience may be considered)
3+ years of safety construction experience
Current NCSO certification
A solid understanding of construction and safety practices
Proven ability to mentor and train
Advanced knowledge of local and provincial regulations and legislation as it pertains to construction and safety
Ability to communicate effectively with various individuals/stakeholders (written and verbal) and influence others to follow safety policies, processes and regulations
Strong organizational skills utilizing time management techniques to meet commitments
Ability to adapt and respond to changing needs and effectively troubleshoot and resolve problems/issues as they arise
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build rapport and strong relationships, committed to providing a high level of customer service
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Procore
Ability to multitask and work effectively
Travel to sites will be required which may include overnight stays due to distance
Flexibility in working periods of overtime
Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
