JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Controller will be responsible for managing the cost, schedule and financial performance of the project. This role requires a thorough understanding of project accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and the principles of Earned Value Management. Collaboration with internal teams and communication with client groups, vendors and subcontractors are key to the success of this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor project performance and ensure project controls are implemented
Responsible for detailed review & analysis of earned value
Monitor project expenditures and ensure alignment with budgetary constraints
Update project budget status reports
Calculate budget variances and assist in generation of budget recovery plans
Track and analyze project costs, identify variances, and provide actionable insights to the Project Manager
Implement cost control measures and recommend corrective actions as necessary
Request recovery plans as necessary in the event subtrades fall behind schedule
Receive quantity survey responses from the field for monthly invoice validation
Support change management in compliance with contract conditions (subcontractor claims, change requests, etc.)
Generate appropriate Earned Value Management bid forms for Request for Proposal Packages
Create SAP requisitions for procurement
Receive/Review/Approve monthly subtrade progress claims
Receive/Review/Approve supplier invoices
Enter SAP goods and services receipts
Identify risks and mitigation measures to ensure project control deliverables
Identify opportunities of project controls improvement for management review and consideration
Collaborate and contribute to risk identification, assessment and mitigation
Receive and evaluate weekly Earned Value Management reporting from Subtrades
Generate all required project status reports for management and the client weekly and monthly
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Post-Secondary Degree or Masters in a business-related discipline preferably finance
Recognized professional accounting designation
10+ years in similar or related position in commercial/industrial construction
Proven experience and ability in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and estimating
Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost control
Strong knowledge of the “Earned Value Management” principles
Ability to produce, read and modify schedules and scheduling curves/reports
Proven strong analytical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly identify and articulate issues
Proven problem solver with sound judgment who accepts ownership and accountability
Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees
Detail oriented and customer focused
Strong organizational skills utilizing well-developed time management techniques to consistently meet
timelines and commitments
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
Advanced knowledge of SAP
Flexibility in working periods of overtime as required
Demonstrated commitment and adherence to safety practices
Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
