This recreation facility expansion includes an 85’ x 200’ NHL sized ice surface plus auxiliary areas comprising of 5 large dressing rooms, referee and figure skating rooms, 2 concessions, 2 exercise/spin rooms, a media room, high school gym offices, space for a future preparation kitchen and 2 areas for future lease space.
Additional areas designed into the facility include mechanical and electrical space, an ice plant room and an ice melt pit for the Zamboni, as well as other office and storage areas. The addition has seating for 1,516 spectators plus concert seating at the ice level for another 1,300. It was also designed to allow for future skyboxes.
The new facility is very well insulated with R-50 roof insulation and R-30 in the walls utilizing a composite factory insulated metal wall panel.

LEED® Certified, this 4 plex indoor soccer facility utilized a Butler Engineered Building system to enable the economic construction of a large clearspan across the entire playing field area and effectively provide a multi-purpose event centre for events of any kind. Two sides of the building showcase a permanent art display.

This extensive expansion to the High River Field House added a walking track, spectator seating for 200, meeting room, and a field house playing surface designed for soccer, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball and badminton. Scott combined a Butler Engineered Building system with conventional steel for maximum structural efficiency.

The major addition to this existing arena included a 2nd ice surface (NHL-sized), a leisure ice surface, multi purpose rooms and amenity spaces. A 2nd floor viewing area of both the new and existing arenas was also added.

The Edmonton Squash Club new facility involved a Tenant Improvement including the addition of squash courts, fitness room, lounge areas, pro shop and front desk. The squash courts were designed for international competition.

This excellent riding facility features a large riding arena, hot walker, stables, wash bays and tack room. The attached living quarters are modern with an open concept living area. The building is a conventional steel and is surrounded by paddocks plus an outdoor riding arena.

The Discovery Waterpark was reconfigured to include a lazy river, swimming pond, beach, picnic areas and viewing decks. Adding to the atmosphere were pathways which implemented fun children’s themes such as dinosaur footprints. A shade structure was also installed, and the pump house was replaced.

Built in two phases, this facility features an NHL-sized ice surface of 85’ x 200’, spectator seating, 5 change rooms, a referee’s room, first aid room, concession and large foyer with a ticket booth. The second level has a running track that is open for viewing of the arena below. In addition, the design includes two meeting rooms as well as the ice plant and Zamboni area. A 20’ wide x 16’ high overhead door provides access for large equipment display.

Stettler Twin Arena

The Stettler Twin Arena encompasses two NHL-sized hockey rinks, 8 change rooms, spectator viewing, a Municipal Library and the Town of Stetter’s Recreation Administration Office. Large clearspan spaces were achieved by utilizing Butler’s Engineered Building system along with their maintenance free MR-24 standing seam roof system. The twin arena features an efficient ice plant system with a large pit hosting two heat exchangers. The design includes a Zamboni storage area plus change rooms which are accessible to both arenas. The bleacher system and walk-way above allows for upper viewing levels into either side of the facility.

Constructed with a Butler Engineered Building system, this twin arena hosts many activities. Both arenas are NHL sized at 85’ x 200’ and share an ice plant and Zamboni area. The project was completed in phases with Phase 1 comprised of one rink, main foyer, concession area, washrooms, spectator bleachers and change rooms. This phase also saw the sand base for the second ice surface being developed, which was added by Scott during Phase 2.
