Job Summary:

Working closely with the sales and pre-construction teams, the successful candidate will be responsible to prepare and interpret tender documents and specifications and assist in providing full-cost estimates for commercial/industrial based projects. This position will perform accurate, thorough and timely quantity takeoffs for all systems and levels of project documents and create the project schedules. It is important for the successful candidate to maintain current knowledge of building designs, systems and construction materials to create accurate estimates.

The ability to communicate with trades to understand the scope of work and to check and verify your own quantities to ensure accuracy is important to the success of this position. In addition, the successful candidate will work closely with the project management team to solicit, analyze and secure subcontractor and vendor pricing and maintain the subcontractor database. The Estimator may also attend project site pre-bid meetings, site tours and post-bid meetings as required to ensure estimates meet the needs and expectations of the client and project.

A strong understanding of the commercial construction industry, construction methodology and contract types will be beneficial in this position. Candidates with experience working collaboratively in a strong team environment will be given preference.

Job Requirements:

Post Secondary Diploma in construction/estimating or related discipline from a recognized post secondary institution

Attend project handover meeting from pre-construction

Finalize subcontractors and subcontract documents
Establish and manage project schedule, document control processes and quality control plan
