Introduction
Renovating and expanding actively used community spaces is no small feat, but it’s a challenge Scott Builders is equipped to handle. The Gary Moe Auto Sportsplex project is a testament to our ability to exceed expectations with seamless alignment, even when faced with hurdles like structural complexities and budget constraints. This case illustrates not only how we delivered on time and on budget but also how we created a welcoming environment for community members, schools, and sports enthusiasts—all while the facility continued its day-to-day operations.
The Challenge
This project was exceptionally challenging, requiring careful scheduling and coordination. At one stage, structural shoring was used to support the main building while new foundations were installed, keeping the indoor pool and two ice arenas fully operational throughout.
The exterior work added complexity, as nearby schools required precise planning to avoid disrupting recess, lunch breaks, and bus traffic. Additionally, we used shoring to support ice arena bleachers during foundation work and dressing room renovations underneath, allowing uninterrupted public access to the bleachers as construction continued.
Furthermore, effective stakeholder coordination played a crucial role in the project's success. Strong collaboration among city officials, educational institutions, and facility operators ensured seamless execution and impactful outcomes.
